Delete Compass Record
This page describes how to remove a Compass record (SQL query, MQTT topic, REST endpoint, Excel sheet) in the Pirivision Compass module via the Delete action.
Prerequisite
At least one record must exist in Compass to delete. The record must not be used in any Cartography widget; otherwise the deletion is rejected.
Cannot Be Undone
A deleted Compass record cannot be restored. Cartography widgets bound to this record will stop receiving data. Check dependencies before deleting.
1. Find the Record in the Compass List
Click Compass in the left menu. Locate the record you want to delete.
2. Select Delete from the More Menu
Click the More (three dots) button on the right side of the card.
Click Delete in the menu.
3. Confirmation Dialog
A confirmation dialog opens. Click Confirm or Delete to confirm the deletion.
4. Deletion Completes
The record is immediately removed from the Compass list.
Affected components after deletion:

| Cartography Widgets | Widgets bound to this record can no longer fetch data; they show empty or error |
| Global Variables | Global variables belonging to the record are also deleted |
| Folder | The folder containing the record is not affected; only the record is removed |
5. Common Errors
| Error / Symptom | Possible Cause | Solution |

| Delete button does not work | No permission | Check your account permissions |
| Widgets still working after deletion | Cache duration not expired | Widgets will start showing empty data within a few minutes |
Before Deleting
Before deleting a record, review the widgets in Cartography that use this record. If needed, bind the widgets to a different Compass record first.
Folder Deletion
Compass folders can also be deleted. If a folder contains a Compass record, the folder cannot be deleted; the records inside must be moved or deleted first.
To delete a folder: 1. Click the More menu of the folder card. 2. Click Delete Folder. 3. Confirm the dialog.
