2. Chart Type Selection — Waterfall
In the second step, you select Waterfall Series from the 15 chart types in the Cartesian group. This selection triggers the display of Waterfall-specific additional fields in Step 5 (Negative Color, Total Color, Connector Line) and causes Step 6 to be skipped.

1. Review the Type List
The 15 chart types of the Cartesian group are listed in the left column.
2. Waterfall Series
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Primary use | Cumulative increase/decrease (P&L, budget, production delta) |
| Flow logic | Each bar is added to the end of the previous point; positive goes up, negative goes down |
| Connector line | Automatic render between bars |
| Total bar | Last point optionally shown as total (Treat Last Point As Total) |
| Multiple series | Not supported (Step 6 is skipped) |
Waterfall vs Stacked
Waterfall shows flow (increase/decrease); Stacked shows distribution. Use Waterfall for net impact, Stacked for category share.
Multiple Series
Waterfall works with a single series. Create two separate Waterfall widgets to compare two separate flows.
3. Confirm the Type
Click the Waterfall card. The card is highlighted with a bold green border.
Click the Next button at the top right.
Proceeding Without Selecting a Type
If no type is selected, Next gives a warning: "Please select a chart type first".
Types in the Wrong Flow
For Cartesian types other than Waterfall, use separate flows:
- Standard Cartesian → Standard Flow
- Stacked* types → Stacked Flow
- Range Column → Range Column Flow
