Edit Widget
You can reopen a saved widget in the Cartography list with the Edit action and update any step. The edit flow uses the same 9 steps as the creation wizard; however CartographyInsertFlowState starts with all has* flags as true, so you can freely navigate between steps.
Prerequisite
At least one saved widget must exist in the Cartography list.
1. Find the Widget
Click Cartography in the left menu. On the list screen find the widget you want to edit by:
- The search box (name or description)
- Tag filter
- Series type filter
- Navigating the folder tree
2. Edit Action
Hover over the widget card and click the Edit icon.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Edit | Opens the wizard in edit mode |
| Duplicate | Create a new copy with the same settings → Duplicate |
| Move | Move the widget to a different folder → Move |
| Delete | Remove the widget → Delete |
3. Edit Mode Behavior
In edit mode the wizard differs as follows:
| Behavior | Create | Edit |
|---|---|---|
| Free access to all steps | — | ✓ |
has* flags initially true |
— | ✓ |
| Form fields filled with saved values | — | ✓ |
| Preview panel shows the latest version | Initial render empty | Current chart |
| Save button name | Save | Update |
Quick Navigation
Click the stepper component at the top to jump directly to any step. This is not possible in create mode.
4. Common Edits
| Scenario | Which Step |
|---|---|
| Change widget name / description / tags | 9. Display Information |
| Add a new data series | 6. Add Series |
| Color / label change | 5. Series Design |
| Axis limit / interval change | 7. General Design |
| Card title / background | 8. Card Design |
| Refresh interval setting | 8. Card Design → General Settings |
| Change the Compass record | 3. Compass Entry Selection (caution: axis mapping may break) |
| Completely change the chart type | 2. Chart Type Selection (form values may be reset) |
Record / Chart Type Change
If you make major changes in step 3 or 2, the column mappings and series settings in subsequent steps may become invalid. In that case review and re-edit the subsequent steps.
5. Save with Update
When edits are complete, click the Update button in Step 9 Display Information. The widget is updated, the list refreshes, and the wizard closes.
Success
When the widget is updated, all Horizon and Atlas dashboards using this widget automatically see the new version (after the browser reloads). No manual intervention is needed.
